How to Change the Field Description of Standard fields?

At times, we may receive requirement from client to change standard field descriptions.

This is because many times the SAP field description is not acceptable by the client and they need custom description in place of standard description. Hence the SAP standard field description to be renamed.

 In that particular situations the step by step solution to this kind of problem is described below:

T-Code: CMOD

Select Goto – Text Enhancement – Keywords – Change 

System will ask for Data Element and Language. Provide the details and click on ok

Here I am going to show you for the field FERTH (Production / Inspection memo):

Before changing SAP Standard description is as below:

Here change field descriptions (short, medium and Long) as per user need:

The below picture shows new field description after change.

After changing the field description we can check the updated description in it's related SAP table

Once the changes are done. Record this in Workbench TR and transport to other landscapes.

Note: If you are working on migration (brownfield implementation) Project. once SAPU/ SPDD is done you need to activate all custom field descriptions from the same path in order to see custom descriptions in place of standard.

The few simple examples to explain above quote:

1. To consume water (good) you should empty your stomach (bad).

    To consume water your stomach should be empty which in turn means you should urinate.

    i.e.. Always you prefer to have water from running river (Ganga, Godavari) but you don't like to taste a water from stored water source (example: Hussain sagar)

    P.S: you will understand if you are hyderabadi why i mentioned Hussain sagar here :P

 How to find the deleted and replaced Transactions in SAP?

on selection-screen in Roles provide the value as "*" and select both the checkbox and execute.

How to find a SAP Field (Table + field) based on Input value?

In this post am am going to teach you a technique with which you can find the table names in which the SAP field (which you are looking for) exists.  

This will be very useful in case if we don't know all the different SAP table flow. This can be achieved if you have Value and Field description.

The below are the step by step procedure:

Go to Transaction Code SE16T or SE16SL or SE38–> RK_SE16SL

Now I will Search for Vendor A000005004 and Execute

Magic Done It fetches every Table field that has vendor with value A000005004 . Based on this we know this vendor has activity for

• Purchasing
• Invoice
• Purchase Info Record
• Batches
• Inventory

Now we will check the much Celebrated ACDOCA Table

We will also check the HALL of FAME BSEG table also
